MORIYAMA Tomohiro
Born in 1977. Tomohiro Moriyama received the Bachelor of Music degree and the Composition Diploma from Toho Gakuen
School of Music. He studied composition with Michio Kitazume, Nobuyoshi Iinuma, and Teruaki Suzuki as well as piano and composition with Michio Mamiya.
His work won a prize in composition at the 68th Music Competition of Japan. He also awarded the first prize in composition at the 17th Sogakudo Japanese Lied Competition. He published
numerous works which includes pieces commissioned by Kuni Seo and Shinichiro Kato Piano Duo, The Philharmonic Chorus of Tokyo, Japan Federation of Musicians, the conductor Kazuki Yamada,
Primrose Magic, edition Kawai and Ongaku No Tomo Sha Corp., to name a few.
He also writes many piano pieces especially for children, some of which were chosen as the set pieces in PTNA Piano Competition and Kawai Music Competition.
Since 2007, he and Teruaki Suzuki have produced the concert "Point de Vue" for Japanese composers and held annual performances.
Along with his significant contribution as a composer, he plays an active role as an educator who committed to solfège and piano education for
children and delivered numerous lectures in Japan.
Currently, he is an associate professor at Toho Gakuen School of Music and serves as a director of The Japan Federation of Composers Inc. ans a regular member of PTNA.
